Stops
Stop 1: Rose Valley Entrance
10 min
Begin at the Rose Valley entrance near Çavuşin. The valley is named for the pink-hued rocks that glow rose-colored at sunset. This was once a thriving monastic community with numerous cave churches.
Stop 2: Column Church (Kolonlu Kilise)
20 min
This unique church features carved columns that were never fully separated from the rock. The frescoes, though faded, show scenes from the life of Christ. Notice the monks' graffiti - prayers carved into the walls centuries ago.
Stop 3: Valley Junction Viewpoint
30 min
At this junction, Rose Valley meets Red Valley. Take in the panoramic views of both valleys. The color difference is striking - rose tones to the left, deeper red to the right. Ancient vineyards still produce grapes here.
Stop 4: Pigeon Houses
15 min
Throughout the valley, you'll see facades decorated with intricate patterns - these are pigeon houses. Cappadocians collected pigeon droppings as fertilizer for their vineyards. The decorative paintings helped attract birds to nest.
Stop 5: Red Valley Sunset Point
60 min
Arrive at the Red Valley sunset viewpoint for the grand finale. As the sun descends, watch the rocks transform through shades of orange, red, and purple. This is widely considered one of the best sunset spots in all of Cappadocia.
