Historical Significance
Used as a fortress since the Hittite era, the castle served as a refuge during Arab raids and housed up to 1,000 people. Abandoned in the 1960s due to erosion.

Climb to the top for the best views in Cappadocia. Best at sunrise or sunset. The climb involves steep stairs carved into rock - moderate fitness required.
